La 46 edición del Festival Internacional de Cinema de Sitges tendrá lugar en los próximos días, del 11 al 20 de octubre y en Japan Fanzine os lo queremos poner fácil para que podáis seguir todo la oferta japonesa que nos ofrece Sitges; y es que Sitges nunca defrauda a los amantes del cine japonés. De la programación de este año, destaca el retorno de Sion Sono al festival, la última película de Hayao Miyazaki y la restrospectiva del genial Takashi Miike.
The 46th International Sitges Film Festival will take place in the following days, from 11th to 20th October and from Japan Fanzine we you want to make it easier so you can follow all the Japanese cinema offered in Sitges; because Sitges never defrauds Japanese cinema lovers. In the program this year, it highlights Sion Sono’s the return to the festival, the latest film by Hayao Miyazaki and a retrospective of the brilliant Takashi Miike.

Miike sigue la senda de Battle Royale y brinda un filme de instituto violento hasta la médula; sazonado, eso sí, con canciones de Kurt Weill y con unos escenarios oscuros y coloridos. / Hasumi, the new English teacher, seems to live only for his students. So much so that he threatens anyone who treats them badly; but careful, make no mistake about it, we are in Miike territory where good intentions are conspicuous by their absence. Miike continues in the footsteps of Battle Royaleand offers us a high school film that’s violent to the bone; but seasoned with songs by Kurt Weill and with some dark and colorful settings.

El director y su equipo filmaron 150 horas de metraje, pero se quedaron sin presupuesto para finalizar el montaje. La película quedó arrinconada hasta que, el año pasado, su autor se puso manos a la obra y le dio la forma de una peripecia épica y delirante. Una ocasión única para contemplar el genio de Sono en su estado más bruto y low cost. / The title, of course, is a lie. For many years, Bad Film was a sort of mythological animal for Sion Sono fans: a colossal project that the filmmaker shot along with the Tokyo Gagaga artistic group in 1995, when he was still a stranger. The director and his crew shot 150 hours of footage, but their budget ran out and they couldn’t finish editing it. The film was discarded until, last year, its creator got down to business and turned it into an epic and outrageous adventure. A unique opportunity to contemplate Sono’s genius in its crudest, low cost state.
Casting Blossoms to the Sky / Kono Sora no Hana: Nagaoka Hanabi Monogatari

Sinopsis: Reiko es una periodista que se desplaza a Nagaoka para realizar un reportaje sobre las víctimas del terremoto de Tohoku. También se encontrará con su ex novio Kenichi, quien pretende convencerla para que protagonice una obra de teatro basada en el bombardeo que sufrió la ciudad durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial. A través de su portentosa e inconfundible rúbrica visual, Ôbayashi reflexiona sobre las heridas históricas de Japón. / Reiko is a journalist who travels to Nagaoka to report on the victims of the Tohoku earthquake. En primer lugar, supone una importante variación en la obra de Hayao Miyazaki y del Estudio Ghibli, pues abandona la fantasía desbordante de sus obras más conocidas para centrarse en dos figuras reales: Jiro Horikoshi, diseñador del avión de combate Zero, y Tatsuo Hori, autor de la novela que da título al filme. Así, Miyazaki pone su genio visual y narrativo al servicio de un relato ligado a la historia de su país. Por otro lado, el maestro ha anunciado que esta será su última película, convirtiéndola en uno de los acontecimientos cinematográficos del año. / This is a special film, for diverse reasons. First of all, it is an important variation on the work of Hayao Miyazaki and the Ghibli Studio, as it leaves the boundless fantasy of his more famous works to focus on two real figures: Jiro Horikoshi, designer of the Zero fighter plane, and Tatsuo Hori, author of the novel that gives the film its name. So Miyazaki places his visual and narrative genius at the disposal of a story connected to his country’s history. On the other hand, the maestro has announced that this will be his last film, making it one of the movie events of the year.

Sinopsis: El japonés-brasileño Mario y su novia Kei están listos para salir de Japón con pasaportes falsos, pero el jefe de la mafia china Ko tiene sus ojos puestos en Kei y no piensa perderla de ninguna de las maneras. Así que envía a Riku a pararlos. Otro miembro de mafia, Fushimi, mantiene como rehenes a la hija adoptiva de Lucía, ex-amante de Mario, y justo con Kei y Mario están a punto de dejar Tokyo y de izar velas rumbo a Australia, Mario regresa a salvar a Lucía. / Japanese-Brazilian Mario and girlfriend Kei are ready to leave Japan with their fake passports, but the Chinese mafia boss Ko has his eyes set on Kei and is not going to lose her in anyway. So he sends Riku to stop them. Another mafia member, Fushimi holds hostage of foster daughter of Lucia, Mario’ s former lover, just as Kei and Mario has left Tokyo and about to set all sail to Australia, Mario returns to Tokyo to save Lucia.
