El Yubari International Fantastic Film Festival (YIFF) es el único festival de su tipo que toma como espacio físico un complejo turístico: el Hotel Shuparo de la ciudad de Yubari en la isla de Hokkaido. Es, por tanto, una maravillosa oportunidad no sólo de disfrutar del mejor cine asiático (ya sea cine comercial o independiente) sino de disfrutar de la gastronomía de Hokkaido o del esquí y el snow. La edición de 2014 es la 24ª edición y ha tenido lugar desde el 27 de febrero al 3 de marzo.
The Yubari International Fantastic Film Festival (YIFF) is the only festival of its kind that takes as physical space a resort: the Shuparo Hotel in Yubari city on Hokkaido island. It is therefore a wonderful opportunity not only to enjoy the best Asian films (either commercial or independent cinema) but to enjoy also the cuisine of Hokkaido or skiing and snowboarding. The 2014 edition is the 24th and has been held from 21 to 25 February.
Este año además, se exhibirá el trabajo original “ART OF KAIJU” del ilustrador Yuji Kaida que retrata en sus obras de visual art a grandes monstruos como Godzilla, Gamera o Ultra Series.

The Great Shu Ra Ra Boom de Yutaka Mizuochi basado en el best seller de Manabu Makime inauguraba la 24ed. del FIFF; una edición que contaba con Frozen y la última película de Vin Diesel Riddick, entre otras como películas invitadas. El punto final lo ponía un grande como Nobuhiko Obayashi son su última película Seven Weeks. El director de 76 años y, con más de 30 películas en su haber, empezó su carrera con el cine experimental en los años 60 antes de pasarse al cine comercial y a la televisión como director, guionista y editor.
The Great Shu Ra Ra Boom by Yutaka Mizuochi based on the bestseller by Manabu Makime inaugurated the 24th ed. of the FIFF, an edition that had Frozen and Vin Diesel’s latest film Riddick, among others, as special guest films. A big one as Nobuhiko Obayashi made the ending point with his latest movie Seven Weeks. The director of 76 years, with over 30 films to his credit, began his career with experimental films in the ’60s before moving into commercial cinema and television as director, writer and editor.
