Tokyo Anime Awards 2013

As part of the 12th edition of the Tokyo International Anime Fair (TAF), the Tokyo Anime Awards, arguably the most prestigious in this type, have been already delivered.  The big winner of the edition has been Mamoru Hosoda who has taken the award for Animation of the Year, Best Director, Domestic Feature Film and Best Screenplay.  The director Noboru Ishiguro, who passed away last year, has received the Awards of Merit for Best Director for his work on Space Battleship Yamato, Macross, Legend of the Galactic Heroe or The Super Dimension Fortress.

The TAF, held in Odaiba, is the most international exhibition of  animation of the country and one of the largest in the world.  However, tensions with publishers since law amendment supported by Shintaro Ishihara  have ended with the creation of an alternative fair to be held in Chiba next weekend: Anime Content Expo (ACE).
